what do we offer

Charis training design and deliver all levels of counselling training, including all of the classroom based components of the Open University Foundation Degree in Counselling:

  • CHARIS Certificate in Counselling Skills (CPCAB Level 2 qualification)
  • CHARIS Certificate in Counselling Studies (CPCAB Level 3 qualification)
  • CHARIS Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB Level 4 qualification)

It’s not only those who are training to become counsellors that can benefit from counselling skills training. Counselling training has a wide application and offers transferrable skills for people in various professions such as Health and Social Care sector, in Education, Customer Service and Sales, the Voluntary Sector, etc. Qualitative research findings suggest that counselling skills training improves understanding of self and others whilst developing personal effectiveness and resilience, and the capacity to build better relationships.

programme 2019-2022

Charis Certificate in Counselling Skills

Dates: September 2019 – January 2020

Times: Thursday evening (5.30-9.30) and 4 Saturdays (9.00am to 1.30pm on first Saturday of each month)

Venue: To be announced

Fees: £350 (plus £167 non-refundable deposit to awarding body for qualification)

Graduates from this Certificate course may progress to the Charis Certificate in Counselling Studies (or equivalent) due to be delivered in February 2019.

Charis Certificate in Counselling Studies (CPCAB Level 3) (Please note that due to the Coronavirus lockdown this course is currently suspended.  Subject to Government guidelines we hope to resume on Thursday 3 September and finish on 10 December 2020.

Dates: February 2020 – July 2020 (Now December 2020)

Times: Thursday evening (5.30-9.30) and 3 Saturdays (9.00am to 1.40pm March/April/May)

Venue: Fife Voluntary Action, Caledonia House, Glenrothes, Fife

Fees: £400 (plus £169 non-refundable deposit to awarding body for qualification)

Graduates from this Certificate course (or equivalent) may progress to the Charis Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB Level 4) – due to be delivered January 2021 to July 2022.  (Rescheduled to follow on from the Charis Certificate in counselling studies course)

Charis Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB Level 4)

Dates: January 2021 to July 2022 (two years part-time)

Times: Thursday evening (5.30-9.30) and 9.00am – 6.00pm on first Saturday in each month

Venue: Fife Voluntary Action, Caledonia House, Glenrothes, Fife

Fees: £1650 (plus £325 each year for non-refundable deposit to awarding body for qualification)
